Famous Actor Known For Infamous Role As Adolf Hitler Dies at 77

The news was just confirmed that actor Bruno Ganz has passed away. The Swiss talent, best known for his infamous role as Adolf Hitler, passed away on Friday night.

Ganz was best known in German-language cinema but also played significant roles in English-language movies as well.

Some of the actor’s more well-known films were “The Reader” and “The Manchurian Candidate,” as well as his notorious role of Adolf Hitler in the 2004 hit “Downfall.”

One of Ganz’ scenes in “Downfall” became a famous meme and circulated around thousands of social media posts, thus casting the actor into even further stardom.

According to BBC, the film received the BBC Four World Cinema Award and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

Beyond that role, Ganz played in several other hit movies as well and he became the “most famous Swiss actor.” In fact, BBC reported that Ganz was the holder of the Iffland-Ring, an award given to the “German-speaking actor judged ‘most significant and worthy.’”

According to reports, the actor had been diagnosed with colon cancer. Sadly, he has now passed away at the age of 77.
