BREAKING NEWS: US Capitol on Lockdown After Shots Fired

The US Capitol and the White House were put on lockdown after shots were fired at the US Capitol Visitors Center.


A male gunman suspect was arrested and in custody and a female bystander was injured. There is no word yet at this time as to the identity of the suspect and to whether this was in any way connected with terrorism.

The gunman was shot by security officers. The entire Capitol was closed for an hour and the Visitors Center remains closed.

Security worldwide has been on heightened alert in the wake of radical Islamic terrorist attacks in Belgium and threats of attacks in other parts of the world.
