While hinting before that he might endorse fellow New Yorker Donald Trump for president, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani has now promised to throw his weight behind the real estate mogul.
According to the New York Post, the tough crimefighter, TIME Magazine "Person of the Year," and former Republican presidential candidate says he'll vote for Trump and predicts that Trump will easily get the needed 50% of votes and more to win the majority of the state's delegates in the April 19 primary.
Giuliani also attacked Ted Cruz' criticism of Trump's "New York values," saying, “It’s New York City. We’re family. I can make fun of New York. But you can’t!"
He added, “I know [Cruz] was attacking liberal Democratic values … I know. I fought to change those policies in areas like welfare reform and policing, as did Mike Bloomberg. … There was a better way to say it.”
In endorsing Trump, Giuliani focused on his business background, saying, “Trump is a negotiator. He negotiates from a high bar to get people’s attention. Threatening to withdraw from NATO will get a better deal with NATO.”
