Tragedy struck on Saturday for a survivor of the Boston Marathon Bombing.
Adrianne Haslet, who lost her leg in the 2013 terrorist attack, was struck by a car while crossing the street. She is in the hospital after the accident, reported Boston.com.
Haslet shared a photo on Instagram of herself in a hospital bed. She shared that she was in a crosswalk when she was hit by a car.
“Thrown into the air and landed, crushing the left side of my body,” she wrote on Sunday. “Yesterday. I’m completely broken. More surgery to come.”
According to the Boston police, the crash occurred on Saturday around 7:15 p.m. The driver remained at the scene, and he or she was cited for failing to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk. According to TMZ, the driver told police that he didn't see Haslet because she was wearing dark clothing.
Haslet, a ballroom dancer, was one of the 17 people who lost a limb in the 2013 attacks. She was a spectator at the 2013 race. In 2016, after getting a prosthetic running leg and extensive training, she completed the Boston Marathon in 2016.
She has since continued to dance and run. She appeared on “Dancing with the Stars" and ran the marathon again in 2018.
Recently, Haslet has shared photos on Instagram of herself in running gear around Boston. Before the accident, she was planning on running the 2019 Boston Marathon.
Please pray for Haslet as she undergoes this latest trial. It's hard enough to have one life-altering accident without having to deal with a second one.
