The sad news was just confirmed that famous guitarist Rowland Gould, known as Boon, has passed away. The musician and founder of Level 42 was found dead at his home at the age of 64.
Gould's bandmates revealed the sad news. They said that he was discovered by police in his home earlier this week.
Level 42's lead singer, Mark King, wrote, "It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to tell you of the passing of our dear friend and brother Boon Gould. Dorset Police confirmed that he was found dead at his home on Tuesday morning."
He continued, "You are at peace now Boon, no more pain mate. Thank you for everything. Mark x."
Boon's brother Phil, who was the drummer in his band, simply wrote, "My heart is beyond broken."
Boon formed Level 42 alongside Phil, Mark, and Mike Lindup in 1979. One of their most successful singles was "Lessons in Love." The song hit number three on the UK charts in 1986.
Gould left the band that he started in 1987 after he experienced several health issues. According to Mirror, he had suffered from nervous exhaustion and had panic attacks on stage. However, he remained great friends with his former bandmates.
Several people have taken to social media to share condolences after the sad loss.
Roberto Carrasco said, "Boon was often in the background, such a great musician and especially talented in writing brilliant lyrics. Thank you for all the beautiful music and lyrics with your spirit in there over all those years."
Christoph Lammertz said, "Thank you for your very valuable contribution to the fantastic music of my favourite band. Rest in Peace, Boon."
