On June 9, Bode Miller and his wife, Morgan Beck Miller, were at a neighbor’s house in Orange County, talking with friends inside. Morgan realized that her daughter, Emeline, wasn’t with her.
She went outside and saw her 19-month-old girl in the pool. Paramedics were called. CPR was performed and then paramedics rushed her to the hospital, where she died, according to Fox News.
Morgan Miller spoke publicly for the first time following her daughter’s drowning: “It’s been 37 days since I’ve held my baby girl,” she wrote on Instagram. “I pray to God no other parent feels this pain."
Miller thanked Tennessee mom Nicole Hughes and parenting website Scary Mommy for their support during her grieving process, writing, “My heart is with you @nicolehughes8 as we walk this journey together. And thank you @scarymommy for helping us spread awareness.”
“Drowning is the NUMBER ONE cause of death in children ages 1-4,” she continued. “We talk about vaccinations, car seats, organic foods, screen time, etc. at length…but not the number one risk our childrens’ lives face…a silent killer.”
“It takes SECONDS,” she wrote. “Please share and help us spread awareness. It’s the first step to preventing these types of tragedies.”
Please pray for Morgan and Bode as they struggle through this difficult time. Read more on the Thailand cave rescue, on how perilous it was to extract all 13 boys and their coach from the cave.
