At the beginning of June, a tragic accident took place in the lives of an iconic American couple. Olympian Bode Miller and his wife, athlete Morgan Beck, revealed some heartbreaking news.
The couple revealed that their 19-month-old daughter, Emmy, passed away. According to reports, paramedics had administered advanced life support care after the young girl drowned. Sadly, she was pronounced dead after being transported to the emergency room.
Bode Miller wrote, “We are beyond devastated. Our baby girl, Emmy, passed away yesterday. Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this. Her love, her light, her spirit will never be forgotten. Our little girl loved life and lived it to its fullest every day. Our family respectfully requests privacy during this painful time.”
Now, almost four months after the tragedy, the Miller family has something to celebrate as a family. Over the weekend, Morgan gave birth to a baby boy.
This newborn baby, whose name has not been publicly released, is the couple’s third child together and Bode’s fifth total. At the time of Emmy’s accident, Morgan was five months pregnant.
The couple’s midwife, Lindsey Meehleis, said, “Exactly one month before Emmy’s second birthday…the sun rose and they knew this day would be different. An overwhelming feeling of joy started to fill a valley of deep grief and sadness.”
She continued, “Morgan’s fingers grasped onto their son, who filled such empty arms. While nothing will ever replace the feeling of aching arms to hold Emmy again, this baby provided something new this day: joy, inspiration and hope.”
Congrats to the couple on their newest baby boy! May this family experience healing and complete peace during this time. Share your congratulations and prayers here! In other recent news, Justice Kavanaugh just made history on his first day as a Supreme Court justice. What do you think?
