Blind 'American Idol' Contestant Leaves Judges in Tears and Viewers Stunned, See Her Performance Here

American Idol has been around for years. The hit series follows judges on their journey around the country to discover the next "big voice" in the music industry.

Recently, a young woman blew the judges away with her phenomenal performance. Her song choice was incredible but even more so was the fact that she is blind.

"First up was Shayy, a performing arts student who went legally blind a year ago due to a brain tumor, only 50 percent of which could be safely removed. 'The doctors say I am a question mark,' Shayy told the judges when asked her long-term prognosis. When the newly vision-impaired Shayy recently returned to school with her cane, she was ruthlessly bullied. (Some especially cruel students even KICKED HER CANE! Who does that???) But this week, the resilient singer channeled all of her heartache into a gorgeous and pitch-perfect audition of Andra Day’s triumph-of-the-spirit anthem 'Rise Up.' And Lionel lost it," wrote Yahoo.

Watch her entire performance in the video below. Warning: Grab the tissues!

Shayy absolutely killed the audition! Her entire performance was perfect and her voice was truly remarkable. The judges were left stunned.

“You have what we cannot teach,” Lionel told Shayy. “We cannot teach letting the music flow straight from the soul, and that’s what you did. It just pours out of you. … I’m so in love with you.”

Join us in praying for the doctors and for Shay. We pray they find a way, or a miracle, to restore her vision. In the meantime, join us in congratulating Shayy on a terrific performance!
