PEOPLE magazine recently released their “Sexiest Man Alive” issue of 2017. Some of the men recognized in the issue for their charm and good looks were the “This Is Us” male stars, rapper 50 cent, and actor Ryan Gosling.
The man who took the winning title of “2017’s Sexiest Man Alive” was country star and coach on “The Voice,” Blake Shelton. Although many of his fans were pleased with his recent “accomplishment,” Fox News reported that the country singer faced backlash from others.
According to Fox, some people felt he was undeserving of the title because he is “homophobic, sexist, and racist,” referring to old Tweets Shelton posted years ago. Majority of the tweets have now been deleted and Shelton did issue an apology in 2016, stating that it was just “comedy” and he is sorry if he offended anyone.
One user even outrageously compared Shelton to President Donald Trump, calling him “openly homophobic” and an “unfaithful spouse,” saying, “...Brag about it and you too can be President of the United States.”

Despite the hatred, Shelton has chosen to enjoy this title while it lasts, especially after encouragement from his girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, and actor Hugh Jackman.
Shelton is known for his more conservative views. In a previous interview prior to the 2016 election, Shelton subtly expressed support for Trump stating, “A lot of people are pulling for him, no matter how much Hollywood fights it.”
