A billionaire from the coal industry has just passed away. According to reports, Chris Cline has tragically died in a horrific crash.
Cline was one of seven people killed in a helicopter crash off the coast of Florida. Multiple reports state that the chopper hit the water and that all the people on board were killed.
The helicopter was reportedly returning to Fort Lauderdale after leaving the Bahamas. The victims included three men and four women. Sadly, it is now being revealed that one of the women was Cline's own daughter.
"The other victims’ identities had not yet been formally confirmed by authorities but were expected Friday afternoon, the Times reported. A West Virginia church posted on Facebook that one of Cline’s daughters appeared to be on the helicopter with him," according to People.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. Cline, who was known for being a generous man, would have turned 61-years-old on Friday. His net worth was reportedly nearly $2 billion and he was a Republican donor as well as a supporter of Marshall University.
“The entire Marshall community is in disbelief and shock over the sad news of this tragic accident that took the life of a prominent Son of Marshall and so many others,” University President Jerome A. Gilbert said in a statement, according to CBS. “Our hearts are heavy. Chris’s generosity to our research and athletics programs has made a mark on Marshall University and our students for many years to come. I am praying for his family.”
