An international music artist, Beth Carvalho, sadly passed away on April 30th, 2019 at 72 years old. News about her passing did not break to the public until the beginning of May.
According to the New York Times, Carvalho died of sepsis. Unfortunately, she had been in a Rio de Janeiro hospital with related health complications since January.
Carvalho was nicknamed “The Godmother of Samba.” She was most famous in Brazil, but much of her music was known across the globe.
Her music career lasted more than 50 years, recording a number of top-charting hits such as “Andanca” and “Vou Festejar.” Carvalho's fame also rose when she married Brazilian soccer star Edson de Souza Barbosa in 1979.
Fans honored the late Samba musician with heartwarming tributes on social media. She will be remembered for her many great accomplishments including a Latin Grammy Award for lifetime achievement and contributing to several gold and platinum albums within her specialized genre.
Carvalho is survived by her daughter Luana. Please keep her in your prayers during this difficult time.
