A tragic shooting took place in Washington D.C. on June 14th, 2017, which also marks President Trump’s 71st birthday. The shooting occurred at the GOP’s practice for the upcoming charity, Congressional Baseball Game.

The shooter, who has been identified as 66-year-old James T. Hodgkins and was killed by police officers following the incident, has been classified as ‘Anti-Trump’ and is believed to have intentionally fired shots targeting republicans. Despite political differences, democrats even showed support by immediately coming together and praying for the victims at the practice session.

Hodgkins’s Facebook page, which has now been taken down, contained many photos of Bernie Sanders to express his democratic support and various posts that showed he despised President Trump. Before the page was shut down, Hodgkins previously posted, “Trump is a traitor....It’s time to destroy Trump & Co.” Breitbart reports he also belonged to a group titled “Terminate the Republican Party”, which apparently celebrated the shooting.

After discovering the shooter was a Bernie Sanders supporter, he responded. NBC News posted a video of his response.

Sanders opened up with announcing his discovery of the shooter volunteering on his 2016 campaign and stated that he is ‘sickened’ by his choice-of-action. “Violence of any kind is unacceptable in our society and I condemn this action in the strongest possible terms.” Watch the video below to see Sanders respond.

Please continue to keep the victims of the attack in your prayers!

Thank you!
