At around 11:00 a.m. BST, a massive fire broke out at a famous building in Belfast city center. According to BBC, over 100 firefighters were working all afternoon to get the fire contained.
The fire took place at the Primark store, located in the five-story Banks Building that holds a vast amount of history. As of 1:30 p.m. EST, reports had still not been given regarding the nature of the fire or how it was started. Additionally, no injuries had been reported.
At the time of this report, no injuries have been reported. However, authorities are still fearing that the entire building will collapse. The roof and some of the floors have already collapsed, and firefighters are expected to be battling the fire well into the night.
Assistant Chief Fire Officer Michael Graham said, "We certainly can't guarantee the structural integrity of the building at this time. Our expectation is that the internal floors will collapse where the fire has been burning at its greatest intensity."
Authorities have advised Northern Ireland residents to steer clear of Castle Street and Royal Avenue where the Primark business is located.
