John Corcoran, the brother of "Shark Tank" star Barbara Corcoran, was found dead in his hotel room in the Dominican Republic. He died in April, but his death is just now being reported by TMZ.
He died of an apparent heart attack. Corcoran is one of seven American tourists who has been found dead in the Dominican Republic if the past 12 months.
John, a retired businessman in his 60s, vacationed on the Caribbean island every year. He was the owner of Statewide Roofing and Siding in Edgewater, New Jersey.
His cause of death was reported as a heart attack, but it was not confirmed via an autopsy, according to TMZ. They claim to have received that information from Barbara herself.
It’s unclear where he was staying or what he may have been doing before his death. Two of the U.S. tourists who were found dead in DR were staying at the same location: the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Punta Cana.
"In June 2018, 51-year-old Yvette Monique Sport died of a heart attack. One month later, 45-year-old David Harrison died at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana, also of a heart attack," notes The Heavy.
In April, a man named Robert Wallace fell ill after drinking scotch for the minibar in his hotel room at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana. He died at the age of 67.
A woman named Miranda Schaup-Werner died in May also of a heart attack. She had been celebrating her 10th wedding anniversary with her husband at the Luxury Bahia Príncipe Bouganville.
Only days later, Nathaniel Edward Holmes and Cynthia Ann Day, a couple from the U.S., were both found dead at the Grand Bahia Príncipe La Romana. Holmes and Day both died from respiratory failure and pulmonary edema, according to the autopsy.
So far, it is not believed that any of those deaths are connected and all are believed to be separate incidents.
Please join us in praying for Barbara and her family as they mourn John's passing.
