A prime figure in the film industry sadly passed away on Thursday, October 11th. Screenwriter, director, and producer Audrey Wells died of cancer at 58 years old, reported the New York Times. Her husband confirmed the sad news to the public over the weekend.

Throughout her career, she worked on several notable films including “Under the Tuscan Sun,” “Disney’s The Kid,” “The Game Plan,” and “The George of the Jungle” movies. Most recently, she contributed to “A Dog’s Purpose” and “The Hate U Give.”

Unfortunately, she passed away the day before the premiere of “The Hate U Give,” a new film that centers around a young girl’s life-changing experience after witnessing her close friend get shot by a police officer.

Fans and others in the film industry took to social media to share a tribute for the late screenwriter. Her work will allow her to be remembered as “one of the most vital screenwriters of our time.”

Please pray for Wells’ family during this time. She will be greatly missed by many!
