A tragic story is coming in from Alabama after a horrendous tornado ripped through the region. In total, at least 23 people have been killed by the natural force. Sadly, at least 3 children are among the dead.
According to reports, search and rescue crews are still working around the clock to account for everyone who may still be missing or injured from the natural disaster. The incident struck in Lee County, Alabama.
"Houses lay shredded and entire neighborhoods flattened in the wake of Sunday’s storms in Lee County, Ala., where the deaths occurred. Sheriff Jay Jones of Lee County said it was as if someone 'took a giant knife and just scraped the ground.' Sheriff Jones said that several people were still unaccounted for and that crews were sorting through the debris in hopes of finding survivors," reported the New York Times.
The three children have been indented by the coroner. They were a 6-year-old, a 9-year-old who died at the hospital and a 10-year-old. At least two of the kids are presumed to be siblings.
"The National Weather Service said Monday that it believed the tornado that raced through Lee County had been an EF-4 storm, with winds of 170 miles per hour," reported the NY Times.
Please join us in praying for the families who lost loved ones in the tragedy. We pray God brings them peace and healing like only He can. Also, join us as we continue to pray for the missing residents of Lee County as well as the search and rescue crews on the ground.
