The most extravagant wedding of 2018 — a special day at St. George’s Chapel filled with thousands of guests, a Royal carriage ride, an elegant cake with fresh flowers, and more — is less than two months away! On May 19th of this year, American actress Meghan Markle will officially become a member of the Royal family when she weds the love of her life, Prince Harry.
Wedding invitations were officially sent out towards the end of March, sparking the public’s curiosity about the guest list. Although “celebrity” guests have not publicly confirmed if they will be attending the wedding yet, Kensington Palace announced on Wednesday that a group of special guests will play a role at Prince Harry and his soon-to-be wife’s wedding.
“The Ministry of Defence is pleased to confirm details of the contribution of members of the Armed Forces to the wedding of HRH Prince Henry of Wales and Ms Meghan Markle on 19 May 2018,” the palace confirmed.
“Units that hold a special relationship with Prince Harry will provide ceremonial support at the wedding and during the carriage procession at the request of Kensington Palace,” the statement continued. “More than 250 members of the Armed Forces will perform ceremonial duties at the wedding.”
Ceremonial duties will include forming a staircase party at St. George’s Chapel, The State Trumpeters of the Household Cavalry to perform classical music, and more.
It is widely recognized that Prince Harry served in the military for several years and the armed forces hold a place near and dear to his heart, reported PEOPLE. He received the high rank of Captain, and additionally, served two tours in Afghanistan.
This news comes shortly after Kensington Palace also made an exciting announcement about the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton. Read the details here.
