Heated Argument About Aretha Franklin Escalates to Shooting on Day of Her Death

On Thursday, August 16th, the legendary Aretha Franklin — widely known as the “Queen of Soul” — sadly passed away at 76 years old. The sad news came after the “Respect” singer was battling a series of health problems including pancreatic cancer.

Since news broke about her passing, celebrities and fans have been mourning this great loss. Many, including President Donald Trump and hit musician Paul McCartney, paid heartwarming tributes to the late singer on social media.

As expected, Franklin has remained a trending topic of conversation following her death — even outside of the social media realm. However, one conversation about Franklin escalated into a very unfortunate situation.

According to WTKR, two witnesses confirmed that two men were arguing over whether or not actress Halle Berry played Franklin in a movie. The heated argument allegedly became physical, then led to one of the men pulling out a firearm. He shot the other man at least one time.

Both men were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The gunshot victim is reportedly in serious condition; the condition of the other man is unclear.
