No one had the winning numbers for last night’s $500 million Powerball prize. That leads to Saturday’s drawing as being potentially the largest lottery prize in American history. According to Fox News, the previous record was $656 million back in March of 2012.
The current jackpot has been growing since November 4th, the last time someone won the Powerball jackpot. Saturday’s drawing could potentially be worth over $675 million, but will most likely end up over $700 million. The odds are undoubtedly stacked against anyone who forks over the $2 for the ticket.
The odds are approximately 1 out of 292 million that you would have the winning numbers if you bought a ticket. You have a better chance of getting mauled by a bear while the bear is getting struck by lightning than you do of winning the lottery. But as the old adage goes, you can’t win if you don’t play. On the flip side of that, if you don’t play you will be $2 richer.
