Please pray for the Jackson family. Sadly, their father is reportedly on his deathbed after a long battle with cancer.
Joe Jackson, the architect of the Jackson 5 and the family’s controversial father, is 89 and, according to Fox News, is now “at the end stages” of his life. His family flew to Las Vegas to be close to him.
Jackson is arguably known mostly for his relationship with his son Michael who, in 1988, released a book detailing that his father was abusive. The book was edited by former first lady Jackie Kennedy Onassis, according to The New York Daily News.
"My mother told me I would fight back even when I was very little, but I don't remember that," wrote Michael. "I do remember running under tables to get away from him and him getting angrier."
Michael claimed in the book that at rehearsals, his father would beat him and his brothers and sisters if they made a mistake during a recording.
"If you messed up you got hit, sometimes with a switch, sometimes with a belt," Jackson asserted. "Dad would make me so mad at him that I'd try to get back at him and get beaten all the more."
Joe Jackson’s surviving family include his wife Katherine and children Randy Jackson, Janet Jackson, La Toya Jackson, and Jermaine Jackson. Apparently, his family has been having a hard time getting information on the status of their father.
"No one knew what was going on,” said Jermaine, speaking with the Daily Mail Wednesday. “We shouldn't have to beg, plead and argue to see our own father, especially at a time like this."
"We have been hurting. We were not being told where he was and couldn't get the full picture. Even from the doctor. My mother was worried sick,” Jermaine added.
