Anthony Bourdain, Famous Travel Host and Chef, Dead at Age 61: Suicide in Hotel Room

One of the most famous chefs in the world is Anthony Bourdain. The travel host turned food expert has been successfully critiquing gourmet meals both in America and abroad for decades.

Sadly, Bourdain has died of an apparent suicide. He was in France, working on a piece for CNN, when his close friend found him unresponsive in his hotel room. He was only 61 years of age.

“We can confirm the death of Anthony Bourdain in the Haute-Rhin department of France,” the Embassy said. “We extend our sincere condolences to friends and family. We stand ready to provide appropriate consular services. Out of respect for the family, we have no further comment," said a spokesperson for the United States Embassy in Paris.

Fans and fellow media correspondents reached out on Twitter after the heartbreaking news.
