NFL Quarterback and His Wife Announce They're Expecting Baby No.1

NFL Quarterback Andrew Luck is going to be a father. The Colts quarterback announced the news on Friday.

He announced the news to Dave Calabro of WTHR. The Colts Quarterback and his wife, Nicole, are expecting their first child.

He told Dave Calabro he is "very excited, but terrified." The couple has been married since March 30 when they tied the knot in Prague, Czech Republic.

Luck and Pechanec, both 29, met at Stanford. Nicole Pechanec was born in Newark, New Jersey, to Czechoslovakian parents.

Her mother, who was a former gymnast, was her coach. At 15, Pechanec moved to the Czech Republic to train with the national team. She represented the Czech Republic in the World Games and European Championships.

After that, Pechanec moved back to the United States to attend Stanford. While there, she was a captain for the gymnastics team and participated in two NCAA finals.

Pechanec has an architectural design degree from Stanford, which is the same degree as Luck. She also earned an MBA from IU.

After Luck had a shoulder injury that made him sit out the 2017 season, his wife helped him recover. The couple spent two months in Laren, Holland, so Luck could rehab his surgically repaired throwing shoulder with a trainer he’d worked with in the past.

“Honestly, though, I wouldn’t have gotten through it if not for Nicole,” Luck said. “It isn’t just that she was willing to do anything she could to help me. It’s that she’s tough. She knows what training is like, what it’s like to feel pain, and what it’s like to have to work really hard. There’s no way I get through those two months without her.”

Luck is under contract with the Colts through the 2021 season. This last season was Luck's best to date.
