A heartbreaking news story made headlines last month. The daughter of an iconic American couple tragically passed away.
"The Orange County Coroner's confirmed the news to ET on Monday, while a spokesperson for Orange County Fire Authority tells ET, 'Orange County Fire Authority responded to a 911 call for a drowning on Sunday, June 10. Paramedics initiated advanced life support care on the patient on the scene, transported the patient to the emergency room and subsequently the patient was pronounced deceased,'" reported Fox News.
Olympian Bode Miller and his wife, professional beach volleyball player Morgan Beck, made the tragic announcement on social media. The world was stunned by the news. Many fans and fellow athletes reached out to offer support and prayers.
"We are beyond devastated," they wrote. "Our baby girl, Emmy, passed away yesterday. Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this. Her love, her light, her spirit will never be forgotten. Our little girl loved life and lived it to it’s fullest every day. Our family respectfully requests privacy during this painful time," they wrote.
Now, Bode's wife is speaking out. It is her first time doing so since the death of her daughter.
“It’s been 37 days since I’ve held my baby girl. I pray to God no other parent feels this pain,” she wrote on Instagram with a picture of daughter Emeline Grier Miller, a 19-month-old who drowned in a neighbor’s pool on June 9. “My heart is with you @nicolehughes8 as we walk this journey together,” Beck wrote. “And thank you @scarymommy for helping us spread awareness. Drowning is the NUMBER ONE cause of death in children ages 1-4. We talk about vaccinations, car seats, organic foods, screen time, etc at length…but not the number one risk your childrens’ lives face…a silent killer. It takes SECONDS. Please share and help us spread awareness. It’s the first step to preventing these types of tragedies," she wrote on social media.
Please join us in sending our prayers to the Millers. We ask that God will see them through this tough time. We take comfort knowing we will see our loved ones again in Heaven.
