UPDATE: On Sunday afternoon, the Amber Alert was called off and the young girl was found safe! She was discovered in her minivan but the suspect had fled. According to reports, a local "alert citizen" saw the child and called 911.

ORIGINAL STORY: On Sunday morning, an Amber Alert was issued from north Columbus, Ohio for a 2-year-old girl. The toddler, Miski Ahmed, was sitting with her mother in her car when a thief stole it.

Columbus police reported that Miski was in a car with her mother when a male approached the vehicle. The male pulled Miski’s mother out of the car and proceeded to steal the vehicle with the toddler still inside.

The incident took place at around 4:45 a.m. in north Columbus on the 2100 block of Albert Avenue. Reportedly, the male suspect was black and was wearing a red shirt and tan pants.

The 2-year-old is a black female with black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a red jacket with black polka dots and jeans, and weighs around 20 pounds.

The vehicle that was stolen with the 2-year-old in it is a 2012 gray Toyota Sienna minivan with the license plate number HHU1856.

Not very much has been determined about where the suspect is headed, but police do have a lead on who the suspect may be. They believe that his street name could be “East & West” and that he could be Somalian.

Police are asking that everyone is vigilant during this time and that if anyone has information or sees something suspicious, to call right away. Calls can be made to either 911 or to 1-877-AMBER-OH for direct access to the investigating law enforcement agency.

Please be praying for the safety of Miski and that she will be reunited with her family before Christmas. This is absolutely tragic, especially given the time of year that it falls during. We are praying for safety and peace for Miski and her family and for wisdom and alertness for the police officers. In other recent news to be praying about, a disaster that just struck left at least 182 people dead.
