The ocean is one of the most mesmerizing places on the entire planet. Below the water lives another world filled with life and beauty.
For one family from Hawaii, they were able to see the world up close and personal. While diving off the coast of Lanai, they spotted a whale shark in desperate need of their help.
"A Hawaiian family spotted this whale shark while free-diving off the coast of Lanai. First, they were excited about the rare sighting of the 20-foot-long endangered shark. But then, they noticed a heavy rope tightly wrapped around its neck. Biologists Kapua Kawelo and Joby Rohrer decided to help the animal, while their son, 17-year-old Kanehoalani, filmed the rescue," reported National Geographic.
The whale shark had become entangled in a fishing net. The divers worked quickly to save the animal by freeing him from the restraint. It was truly marvelous to see!

It took the divers five tries of diving down to the creature and cutting the rope! The whale shark even seemed to thank them for their good deed!
