‘Smallville’ Actress Arrested in Alleged Ties to Sex Trafficking Cult

Allison Mack, the former “Smallville” actress, was arrested Friday afternoon under suspicion of alleged ties to a sex cult.

Mack, along with NXIVM cult leader Keith Raniere, was charged with sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy, and forced labor conspiracy, according to The Hollywood Reporter and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.

TMZ confirmed that at Mack’s arraignment, she entered a plea of not guilty. The judge ordered her to be detained. A hearing on Monday will determine her bail which Brooklyn federal prosecutors recommend should be set high due to the concern that Mack is a flight risk.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Raniere established a cult under the guise of a women’s empowerment group – a self-help program named NXIVM, based in Albany, New York, that recruited women into joining a “women-only organization that would empower them and eradicate purported weaknesses.”

But according to federal prosecutors, the organization was anything but a women’s empowerment group. They argue it was a cult meant to enslave women.

United States Attorney Richard P. Donoghue said in a statement “As alleged in the indictment, Allison Mack recruited women to join what was purported to be a female mentorship group that was, in fact, created and led by Keith Raniere,” he said.

The statement added, “The victims were then exploited, both sexually and for their labor, to the defendants’ benefit."

Mack, 35, is thought to be second-in-command only to Raniere himself. According to TMZ, she forced women into sexual slavery by taking compromising, embarrassing photos of them and by recording confessions of past crimes for the purpose of blackmailing them into staying in the cult for life.

The women were allegedly sleep-deprived and starved – so much so that it affected their menstrual cycles. PageSix.com reports they were branded like cattle. Other details have emerged which are far too graphic to print here. The activities in question are purported to have taken place between February 2016 and June 2017.

Please pray for the victims of this sex trafficking ring, for their healing. Be sure to read about the woman who dove into a vicious brawl to save two officers who were being brutally attacked.
