Philadelphia Eagles second-string quarterback Nick Foles was awarded the Super Bowl MVP title following Sunday night’s big game against the New England Patriots. Foles, originally a backup quarterback, was forced to start earlier in the season when star quarterback Carson Wentz suffered a season-ending injury.
Foles’ title was well deserved with his spot-on throws to his teammates, but his true shining moment was when the Eagles implemented a trick play. The ball was thrown to Foles, throwing the Patriots off guard, who caught the ball for a touchdown. Earlier in the game, the Patriots attempted a similar trick play with quarterback Tom Brady, but he missed the ball.
While Foles was proudly accepting his MVP title, his infant daughter Lily James Foles stole the spotlight during his speech.
Foles, while holding his daughter in his arms, began, “Unbelievable. All glory to God.” However, he was suddenly interrupted by little Lily grabbing the microphone.
“Obviously Lily really likes this mic,” he stated. “She has no idea!”
The MVP continued, “To be here with my daughter, my wife, my family, my teammates, this city, we are very blessed.”
After Lily’s mic stunt, the young child made national headlines. Mainstream media outlets shared adorable photos of the proud father and his baby girl via social media.
