Earlier this year, world-famous game show host Alex Trebek revealed some sad news. The “Jeopardy!” host had been diagnosed with cancer.
Trebek was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and was set to start treatment right away. At the beginning of May, Trebek opened up about his experience thus far with cancer. Since his diagnosis in March, many people applauded Trebek for how positive he was remaining through it all. At the beginning of May, however, he revealed that he actually was struggling with “deep sadness.”
Now, a few months after his cancer treatment started, Trebek has given fans another update. This time, it is positive! According to People, the 78-year-old is “near remission!”
Trebek said, “It’s kind of mind-boggling. The doctors said that they hadn’t seen this kind of positive result in their memory…some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50 percent.”
Even with the positive news, however, People noted that the host will still have to undergo several more rounds of chemotherapy before reaching full remission. However, the progress has been amazing!
When he heard the news, Trebek said that he had “tears of joy.”
According to TODAY, Trebek noted that the doctors were extremely happy as well.
He said, “I’ve already gone from where I was to this. The doctors are so excited, just beside themselves with joy.”
Later, the host talked about his mostly positive attitude throughout this hard journey. He talked about the encouragement of fans that has helped him on tough days.
He said, “I’ve got a couple million people out there who have expressed their good thoughts, their positive energy directed towards me and their prayers. I told the doctors, this has to be more than just the chemo, and they agreed it could very well be an important part of this.”
He concluded, “There’s always a reason to hope. If I’m going to be the public spokesperson for pancreatic cancer, my message to others is this: ‘Let’s be positive.’”
Please continue praying for Trebek as he faces more rounds of treatment. Share your prayers here. We will continue to update as more information is revealed. In other recent news, a country music legend who wrote several top 100 singles just passed away from pneumonia complications.
