It was not that long ago that the Al Jazeera network accused football superstar Peyton Manning of using human growth hormones (HGH) while he was recovering from his neck surgeries. According to MSN, Manning denied those allegations in the strongest way possible.
The popular news organization in the middle east thought their success there would translate into success in the American market. In 2013, Al Jazeera purchased Al Gore’s “Current TV” station for $500 million. Since then, the network has had a downward slide into obscurity.
With minimal viewership, it appears that accusing one of America’s beloved sports figures of doping was the last ditch effort to save the failing network. The plan backfired and on Wednesday, Al Jazeera announced they are shutting down their U.S. Operations.
When asked about Al Jazeera’s shuttering, Manning had the perfect response. “I’m sure that’s just devastating to all their viewers,” Manning said sarcastically.
