Akon accused Devyne Stephens, his former business partner, of trying to freeze his New York assets in a fit of spite.
Stephens filed a lawsuit last month to have some assets of the rapper stolen. However, Page Six obtained court documents from Akon’s attorneys. They claim that Akon is trying to “damage Akon’s reputation out of spite” while he is involved in some of his most consequential and ambitious entrepreneurial projects.
Stephens filed suit against Akon alleging that he cheated him out of $750,000 in a 2018 settlement agreement, and $3,000,000 in royalties.

Stephens worked previously with Destiny’s Child and TLC. He claims that he was supposed $3.25 million over four year, and Akon didn’t pay $750,000 for the final installment.
Stephens claims that Akon spent “the greater part of a decade” trying not to pay him his money. Akon has failed to pay Stephens the large sums of money he promised in contracts to him, court documents state.
