Actor with Famous Voice Passes Away After Long Cancer Battle, Fans in Mourning

Famous Japanese voice actor Unshō Ishizuka, who portrayed Professor Oak in the Pokémon anime, has died at the age of 67.

According to Forbes, Ishizuka passed away on August 13 from esophageal cancer.

During his lifetime, he was incredibly prolific. He has 258 credits on IMDB. His career was also incredibly varied ranging from Pokémon to Vampire Hunter to Dragon Ball.

Fans of anime have taken to social media to mourn his passing. His voice will be incredibly missed in the community.

"Apart from voicing Professor Oak in Pokémon, he also portrayed the likes of Mr. Satan in Dragon Ball Super and Jet Black in Cowboy Bebop, so for many fans of anime in Japan, his death has been very saddening," noted Forbes.

His close relatives already held a private wake and funeral. However, a public ceremony is reportedly being planned for a later time.
