ABC Reveals Huge News About 'Roseanne' With One Twist No One Saw Coming

June 22, 2018Jun 22, 2018

On Thursday, June 21, ABC Network made a huge announcement about the future of “Roseanne.” The popular conservative sitcom was pulled from television last spring but then reinstated in recent months after the audience that loved the show fought for its return. Several weeks ago, however, it was pulled once again.

The show’s most recent cancellation was over a tweet that the show’s star, Roseanne Barr, had posted. The statement she made was out of character and caused a huge scene on the Internet.

Now, ABC has made a surprising announcement about the future of ‘Roseanne.’ They revealed that the show will continue but with one major twist: Roseanne won’t be a part of it. Not only will Roseanne Barr not be acting in it, even her name won’t be a part!

ABC announced that they will be doing a spinoff series that will include all of the lead actors from ‘Roseanne’ beside the star’s show. Additionally, the show will be called “The Connors.”

“The Connors” is set to air on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. starting this fall. According to Fox News, Barr will have no creative or financial involvement with the show.

Barr said, “I regret the circumstances that have caused me to be removed from Roseanne. I agree to the settlement in order that 200 jobs of a beloved cast and crew could be saved,  and I wish the best for everyone involved.”

ABC said, “‘The Connors’ stories demonstrate that families can always find common ground through conversation, laughter and love. The spinoff will continue to portray contemporary issues that are as relevant today as they were 30 years ago.”

After the announcement, the remaining cast released a statement as well.

They said, “We have received a tremendous amount of support from fans of our show, and it’s clear that these characters not only have a place in our hearts, but in the hearts and homes of our audience. We all came back last season because we wanted to tell stories about the challenges facing a working-class family today. We are so happy to have the opportunity to return with the cast and crew to continue to share those stories through love and laughter.”
