The ABC News family is in mourning after a great tragedy occurred. The President of ABC News, James Goldston, made the sad announcement on Tuesday, April 9th.
One of the network’s award-winning producers died suddenly at only 27 years old. Her name was Alexa Valiente.
“Always a friendly face in the halls, she had an upbeat spirit, a curious and brilliant mind and a real passion to see the world,” the ABC News president said in a statement. “She will be deeply missed.”
Another spokesperson for ABC said everyone was “shattered” by the tragic news of Valiente's death. Valiente’s close co-workers in the newsroom were reportedly “surprised,” according to PEOPLE.
Valiente achieved great success at such a young age. She was best-known for her work on 20/20’s Las Vegas: Heartbreak and Heroes, which was a news special about the mass Las Vegas shooting. She was awarded an Emmy for her work on the program.
Valiente’s cause of death was not immediately released, but according to the New York Post, she had health problems for several years. If additional information is given to the public, this story will be updated accordingly.
Please pray for her family during this hard time! May God bring them all an abundance of peace and comfort.
