Annie Peguero, mother and personal trainer in Virginia, posted a video that went viral on Monday.
During the video, Peguero tells her story about being kicked out of her home church for breastfeeding her child uncovered during the service.
This mother feels very strongly about her right to be able to breastfeed in public.
"I have breastfed in a few different countries...all over this country...all over the place...and nobody has ever said anything to me for breastfeeding the way that I do."
A woman who worked at the church approached her during the sermon and urged her to leave the service to the baby room. After refusing, the woman followed Peguero to the back of the room and explained to her that men or new church goers may feel uncomfortable.
Outraged, Peguero spoke to the pastor’s wife who also told her that church policy states breastfeeding uncovered during the service is not accepted.
Since then, Peguero has been following up with updated videos asking for prayers and stating that her previous church was in violation of Virginia law. She was also interviewed with the Washington Post.
In her comments, social media users are conflicted. Some agree with the church and their views on 'modesty'; others support Peguero’s stance on breastfeeding in public because it is 'natural and apart of God's creations'.
Where do you stand on this issue? Do you think the church or Peguero was in the right?
