A Strong Contender Emerges From The 1st Republican Debate

One of the biggest storylines to come from the 1st Republican Debate did not even happen during the main event.  It happened during the “happy hour” debate that took place before the primetime debate.

The happy hour debate featured the bottom 7 candidates in the polls (Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry, Carly Fiorina, Rick Santorum, George Pataki, Lindsey Graham, and Jim Gilmore).

The biggest storyline of either debate was the emergence of Carly Fiorina as a viable dark horse candidate.  She took the early stage and more than held her own against the seasoned politicians.

She even impressed the fellow candidates on stage.  So much so that former Texas Governor Rick Perry said, "I will tell you one thing, I would a whole lot rather had Carly Fiorina over there doing our negotiation than John Kerry. Maybe we would've gotten a deal where we didn't give everything away."

Commentators and Social Media users across the country declared her one of the winners and largest surprises of the first debate.
