There have been numerous troubling allegations about the government of the State of Virginia. After Governor Northam supported infanticide in an interview, a classmate released Northam's yearbook page, which showed one student in blackface and another dressed in a KKK costume.

After people called for Governor Northam to resign, the news broke that the man who would take his place if he resigned, Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin E. Fairfax, had been accused of rape.

Now, a second woman has alleged that he raped her while they were students at Duke University in 2000. She is demanding that he resign immediately.

According to The New York Times, a statement released by a lawyer for Meredith Watson, who sent a letter to Virginia lawmakers, said Ms. Watson was speaking out because of a sense of civic duty after learning about allegations disclosed this week by Vanessa C. Tyson.

“The details of Ms. Watson’s attack are similar to those described by Dr. Vanessa Tyson,” said the statement, released by Nancy Erika Smith, a New Jersey lawyer representing Ms. Watson. The statement described the rape as “premeditated and aggressive."

Karen Kessler, a spokeswoman for Ms. Watson, said in an interview that Watson is not planning on litigation or seeking financial compensation.

“She has been concerned and angered by what she’s been reading about another victim so she decided to tell her story,” said Ms. Kessler.

Watson graduated from Duke a year after Fairfax. She has worked as a fundraising consultant for non-profit companies.

Her spokesperson said that she will not be conduction any interviews discussing her allegations.

After the allegations broke, Fairfax released a statement. In it, he denied all wrongdoing.

Others besides the women who have accused him of assault have begun asking for him to resign.
