The job title “President of the United States” is often associated with big-league moves: dealing with foreign affairs, signing executive orders, working with the House and the Senate, etc. What is often overlooked, however, is actually one of the most important aspects of the job- inspiring the youth of America for the hope of a brighter tomorrow.
Just over a year into his term, President Trump has not taken that job lightly. As was common with past presidents, he has proven that he will make time for a young person in need of his help.
Now, an emotional story has emerged from the West Wing. During Christmas time, 8-year-old Fore Putnam wrote a letter to Santa Claus, Ivanka Trump, and the president.
Fore wrote an emotional letter after his mother had left both him and his extremely sick father to fend for themselves. He explained his father’s condition and said that he was hoping for a new kidney for him for Christmas, as well as “maybe one toy.”
The letter said, “Dear Mr. President, My dad has been sick for a long time. He has to have a kidney to live…I want him to get better, so he can get a job again so we can play. My mom just left, so if my dad gets better, she might come back.”
He continued, “Please help my dad for Christmas. That’s all I want for Christmas, and maybe one toy.”
Now, a few months after that letter was written, Fore received a surprise in the mail. The 8-year-old got a letter back from President Trump!
Fore's grandmother, Sheila Sherrill, told CBS, “I went to the mailbox and I got it out and it was in the official envelope. I really thought it's probably just a canned picture of him with some sort of canned response. But I called my son and told him that Fore had some mail here. And when we opened it, I was just in awe. As busy as presidents are, he took the time to write to an eight-year-old that has such a heart for his dad."
The young boy revealed that the letter gave him hope because President Trump said that he would do what he could in order to get his father help.
President Trump wrote, “I admire your determination to make sure your dad has the support and resources he needs to feel better. I have shared your letter with my staff, and they are working to see what help they can provide.”
Now, people across the nation are sending kind words to the family. Fore’s father, Trae, said that the outpouring of support has meant the world and that his son has gone above and beyond to look after him.
He said, “One thing about my son, ever since I’ve been sick, he’s been right by my side helping me. And that’s the main reason I want to pull through- so I can be the dad that he deserves.”
Please be praying that Trae Putnam is able to get the kidney transplant that he is in desperate need of. Let us know what you think about the president’s response to this young boy’s plea! In other recent news, a world leader was finally released from the hospital after receiving a diagnosis.
