There are not many veterans left who fought for their country during the Second World War. Each year, we lose veterans who sacrificed so much to keep our country free.

One of those veterans is now making headlines. After 74 years, Robert Lockard is doing something incredible! Robert decided to get his high school diploma!

The 94-year-old veteran is from Ohio. He should have graduated in 1944 but he dropped out of school and joined the army.

"He served in the Air Corps 354th Infantry 89th Division and spent time in northern France and central Europe during World War II. He received a European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, three Bronze Star designations and a World War II Victory Medal," reported ABC News.

The veteran says that this amazing honor means the world to him! As we take time this Memorial Day weekend, let us give thanks for all the brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good.
