A disturbing incident has just occurred inside a school in California. According to reports, an armed teacher accidentally fired his weapon in the school.

The event occurred on Tuesday during a public safety class at a high school. The bullet hit the ceiling of Seaside High School in Monterey County, and fragments from the shot struck one male student in the neck. Two others suffered minor injuries as well, according to the Seaside Police Department, news outlets reported.

The teacher has been identified as Dennis Alexander. He is a reserve cop for the Sand City Police Department. He has now been placed on administrative leave by the school.

“I have concerns about why he was displaying a loaded firearm in a classroom,” Sand City Police Chief Brian Ferrante told KSBW separately. “We will be looking into that.”

One parent is especially outraged about the incident. Fermin Gonzales says her son come home from school with bullet fragments in his neck.

"He discovered what had happened when his 17-year-old came home with blood on his shirt and bullet fragments in his neck. He said the teen told him Alexander pointed the gun at the ceiling and said he was going to make sure it wasn’t loaded. Then it went off," reported the Huffington Post.
