In 2015, famous English soccer player, Rio Ferdinand, had to say goodbye to his wife of six years and the mother of their three children. His wife, Rebecca, passed away at the age of 34 after a battle with breast cancer.

Rio had to break the news to their three children, Lorenz, Tate, and Tia, that their mother had passed away. Though their grief was unimaginable, Rebecca’s best friend Lisa told Rio what his wife had said to her in her final few weeks.

Lisa revealed that Rebecca reportedly gave her blessing for Rio to feel comfortable moving on and that she wanted him to eventually get into a new relationship, especially so that her children would have another woman to look up to.

Around a year later, Rio found that love again. He began dating reality TV star, Kate Wright. The couple hit it off immediately and dated for two years.

Now, the happy couple is celebrating their engagement! Rio proposed to Kate on the roof of the St. Regis in Abu Dhabi after a family holiday. The father of three included his children in the special moment.

Rio said, “She said yes! How these 3 kids kept it a secret I’ll never know.”

Kate posted the same photo and wrote, “The perfect end to our holiday…How could the answer not be yes!”

Of course, Kate said yes! What do you think about this rooftop proposal? Let us know! In other recent news, a legendary hall of famer died at 80 after an ongoing health battle. Please pray for his loved ones during this time.
