Police in Maryland are desperately searching for a 16-year-old girl who they believed has been kidnapped. Prince George's County police are investigating the possible abduction, which happened around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, reported local news.
A caller reported that at least two males dressed in all-black clothing and ski masks took the teen, Erica Alvarez, in a dark-colored SUV from the 8100 block of 15th Avenue in Langley Park, Maryland.
For a few hours, officers have been canvassing the area. It's a neighborhood of garden-style apartments less than 10 miles from downtown Washington.
Police believed Alvarez was targeted and kidnapped. At this point, police don’t believe the kidnapping is related to gang activity.
Prince George’s County Police said that Alvarez was listed as a critically missing person from DC since May 22. On the morning of June 4, shortly before her kidnapping, police received a distraught call from the teen. When police arrived, she had already left.
A witness told police that Alvarez was taken against her will. About three hours after the initial report, detectives released a photo of an SUV that might be involved.
If you have any information in this case, call 911. Please pray that Alvarez is found safe and sound.
