Over 450 Dead, Hundreds More Injured After Massive Earthquake Strikes

Reports are coming in that 452 people have been killed after a massive earthquake rocked the Iran and Iraq border. ABC News is reporting that over 860 people have also been injured by the natural disaster.

Now, new reports are being released from the U.S. Geological Survey. According to an analysis of the earthquake, experts are recording the event at a 7.2-magnitude.



The origin of the earthquake is being placed roughly 19 miles from Halajabah, Iraq. It was also reported to have occurred nearly 14 miles inside of the earth’s crust.

The news of the disaster has made headlines around the globe. Many foreign leaders took to social media to express their condolences and offer their support for the region.

“Tragic news from Iran and Iraq today. Canadians offer their deepest sympathies to the families affected by the earthquake in the region,” wrote Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in a tweet.
