This video is so powerful. At times, you'll fight back tears. But the truth needs to be heard. The Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) filmed various sexual abuse victims and one transgender parent to expose just how terrible these spreading transgender bathroom bills are.
The rape and abuse survivors outline just how awful it is that men are allowed, unchecked, into girls' locker rooms, bathrooms, and showers, where they can prey upon and expose themselves to young girls. To all women, but especially to those who have been victims of abuse, this law is so traumatic.
But especially rare is the strong testimony of a transwoman and parent. Sephora Andrews was born a man but now identifies as a woman, Life Site News shares. He stands firmly against the tide of his LGBT community in opposing these bathroom bills.
“In a time when so many sexual assaults go unreported, we're telling [girls] that their boundaries don't matter. When they say no, people won't listen,” Andrews says. “They'll be blamed for being uncomfortable.”
“I think it's time we care for women and children, that we care for the concerns of women and children, care for the safety of women and children,” Andrews continues. “Passing this law is not the way to do it.”
Andrews believes the best way to protect both transgenders and women and children is a third bathroom. “I personally think there should be a separate space for trans[gender people], or anyone, that they can access,” which would “protects trans safety...and the privacy of anyone."
We applaud ADF for making this video and the victims and Andrews for their boldness. ADF is asking those of us who oppose these bills to visit safebathrooms.org for more information on how to fight. After watching this video, how do you feel about the bathroom battle? Let us know in the Comments! Thank you!
