Country music fans are disappointed and in shock after legendary country singer Willie Nelson suddenly canceled tour dates over health reasons. According to the Willie Nelson website, tour dates are scheduled out through April in major cities including Las Vegas and St. Augustine.
It is unclear if all remaining tour dates are canceled or just the more recent ones until he fully recovers.
Although fans are upset about missing out on his upcoming shows, they are more concerned about the singer’s health. During a recent evening concert in Southern California, Nelson reportedly said “I’m sorry” and walked off the stage “coughing” and “having trouble breathing,” reported Classic Country Music.
Nelson’s sons performed a few more songs before the concert was ultimately cut short. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Nelson’s publicist said he had “a bad cold or the flu.”
A statement read, “Unfortunately, due to illness, Willie Nelson's performance concluded early. The good news is we already refunded your money including fees (except UPS if applicable). It should post to your account within 7-10 business days.”
Country Classic Music also reported that Nelson was forced to cancel shows due to health concerns at the beginning of last year, as well. Nelson is 84 years old.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Wilson has not released a personal statement.
