Wild Stats Reveal How Much Pizza, Guac, Etc. Will be Eaten Super Bowl Sunday

On Sunday, February 4, the Eagles and Patriots will face up at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Millions of viewers will watch the matchup, either from the stadium itself or from the comfort of their own homes.  

Some viewers enjoy Super Bowl Sunday purely for the sport of football. Others enjoy it because of the highly anticipated half-time show. Whether viewers are watching it for the Eagles, Patriots, Justin Timberlake, or just to be a part of a national event, one thing is certain: a lot of food will be consumed.

On Thursday, CBS revealed the unbelievable amount of "football food" favorites that will be eaten on Super Bowl Sunday. Below are some of the statistics.

WINGS

According to the National Chicken Council, 1.35 billion wings will be consumed during the Super Bowl. CBS noted that there would be enough wings to fill every single seat in all 32 NFL stadiums with 625 wings. 

PIZZA

According to Retail Me Not, consumers will purchase 12.5 million pizzas on Super Bowl Sunday. Another report said that deliveries increase by 16% on that day. 

GUACAMOLE

According to Food & Wine, Super Bowl viewers purchase 120 million pounds of avocados in order to make guacamole. 

CHIPS

To go along with the crowd favorite, guacamole, consumers will purchase around 29 million pounds of chips. 

BEER

Another shocking statistic is that 50 million cases of beer are expected to be purchased for Super Bowl Sunday. CBS noted that that would be enough beer to fill up almost 200 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
