The Raiders haven't always enjoyed a sparkling, positive public image. Stereotyped for angry players and even angrier fans, the black and silver team has been one people love to hate.
But all that is beginning to change with the team's star quarterback. Derek Carr's strong public faith and positive leadership on the team has been revamping the Raiders' image over the last few years since his recruitment. And now he has just been signed with the biggest deal of NFL history.
But what is really making news is what Carr plans to do with the money. Upon being asked how he'll spend it, Carr said he will first do what he has always done with his money: tithe it to the Lord. Here, Franklin Graham honors the strong Christian for honoring the Lord with his success.
Carr is often sharing Bible verses on social media and shows his passion for God and his family on his Instagram account.
The Wild Card reports that Carr was very humble when talking about his record-breaking contract: “The exciting thing for me money-wise, honestly, is that this money is going to help a lot of people. I’m very thankful to have it, that it’s in our hands, because it’s going to help people not only in this country but in a lot of countries around the world.”
Carr added, “I won’t get into when, how or why. It’s not about that for me. It’s about making a difference. That’s what’s exciting to me, that we’ll be able to do that.”
