White House Announces It Will Require Consumer Drones To Be Registered

If you've enjoyed freely flying the skies with your drone, be prepared for some government regulation.

According to Fox News, the Obama administration today announced that it will require that all drones — with some exemptions — be registered. The decision is in response to increased safety concerns. The Federal Aviation Administration is hoping it will prompt hobbyist drone operators to be more responsible by increasing the chance they'll be caught if their drone endangers others.

A taskforce has been setup to determine which drones will be exempted from the registration requirement. It's likely toys and drones under two pounds would fall into that category.
