No, this is not a Papa John's commercial, but it should be.
A man in Omaha, Nebraska was desperate to get in contact with his 87-year-old grandmother in Palm Coast, Florida after Hurricane Matthew struck, according to KIVI-TV. She had lost power in the midst of the storm, and efforts by Eric Olsen to contact local Palm Coast authorities went unanswered with numerous other emergencies going on.
“I was calling the police department, I was calling the sheriff’s department, and no one was answering, so I was really worried,” Eric recalled.
That's when he turned to another source for help: Papa John's.
“So I just said, ‘I’m going to order her a pizza, and if they can deliver it, then I know she’s alive,'" Eric explained.
When Eric placed an order for a pepperoni pizza to be delivered to his grandma's house, he included special instructions for the delivery person to call him upon arrival. Eric got to hear his grandma's voice on the phone the moment the pizza arrived and was relieved to hear she was safe.
As for the pizza, his grandma called it "fantastic."
