When Deputy Tried To Pay For Lunch At Subway, An Employee Did Something Unexpected

Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office Deputy Aaron Pattee was hungry after working overtime assisting fellow deputies with a robbery case when he decided to stop by an Underwood, Iowa Subway restaurant for a bite to eat.

According to KMTV, when Pattee tried to pay for his lunch last week, a young Subway employee did something unexpected.

According to the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office Facebook page “Seth reached into his pocket and pulled out his debit card and swiped it to pay for Deputy Pattee’s dinner. After telling Seth that he didn’t need to do that, Seth absolutely refused to let him pay and said, ‘Thank you for your service and your hard job that you do every day. We appreciate it.’”

The action did not go unnoticed. A public "thank you" on the sheriff's office Facebook page garnered well over 40,000 likes and 2,000 comments as of Thursday morning.

Pattee was so impressed that he held a special lunch for Seth and the heads of the sherrif's office on Wednesday. Seth's manager was thoroughly impressed as well and commented that he was always a hard worker.

The Facebook page relates, "(Seth) was so surprised and certainly didn't expect it."
