Life is a lot like exercise. You start out with the absolute best of intentions, set goals, and are motivated beyond belief. In the beginning days, you keep your stamina, proud of what you are accomplishing. Over time, though, your motivation starts to dwindle. It becomes a lot harder to put forth the effort, excuses come up and before you know it, you’re right back where you started - at home, unmotivated, and defeated.
We all face situations like this from time to time. Life seems to be going just how we planned, sometimes even better than we could have ever imagined. Out of nowhere, it can take a turn and suddenly you are at your wits' end. You have reached your exhaustion point and you’re ready to throw in the towel.
When you're at your lowest, what do you do? How can you overcome your situation? As you try to maneuver through the discouragement, hopelessness, and confusion, call out to the Lord in prayer. Let him carry your burdens and be your strength. With his help, you can rest in the hope of being victorious over your struggles.
These three simple prayers may help as you seek guidance from the Lord:
1. Lord, giving me the strength to strive on for what’s ahead. I know you have good plans for my life.
Jeremiah 29:11 - “For I know the plans I have for you. Plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Philippians 3:14 - “I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.”
2.Lord, help me to find joy in the future.
Lamentations 3:21-23 - “But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Romans 8:18 - “The sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
3.Lord, give me the strength to keep going despite my circumstances.
Isaiah 40:31 - “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 - “But he said to me ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
